S4: Episode 7 - Peter Twist | Time To Turn On
Updated: Feb 1, 2022
Peter Twist’s list of accomplishments is so long that I don’t even think that I could list them all and keep this post to something respectful. He was an athlete and an NHL strength and conditioning coach. He is a published author, has a Masters in Coaching Science, a CEO, motivational speaker, and he has beaten stage 4 cancer. The doctors said that he only had a year to live, and that was 10 years ago now.
Peter had many cancerous tumors in his face, brain, and neck, and when he had found out the doctors had said that it was too late, and that there was nothing they could do for him. He decided to take his life into his own hands. He requested his biopsy from the hospital, it was given to him, and he went on his quest to find a doctor that would actually help him.
He found the doctor, and they put him through the harshest treatment that they could muster. The doctor said that the fact that he was in such good shape, and taking care of his body so much, is probably what saved him because they could really push the envelope of how hard the treatment could be because he could take it. He also had the mental resilience to be put through that treatment. He had conditioned his mind enough to know that not everything is permanent, and that he could make it through.
That was 10 years ago, and now he is still thriving, coaching, writing, operating businesses, creating courses, and so much more. He went from having a year to live, to surviving, back to thriving in the industry that he loves so much. You want to talk about being an Overcomer, Peter Twist is the biggest Overcomer I know.
In the interview we sat down and talked about his cancer story, but that is not all. We talk about his mentality, the training he put himself through that gave him the strength to make it through this. Love, gratitude, appreciation, resilience, the harnessing of anger and frustration, turning on when it’s time to get the work done. There are so many incredible lessons to be learned from Peter, and I can’t wait to share them with you. Check out the whole interview, it’s a truly amazing story from an amazing man.
This year, Peter has a lot coming out. He’s starting a new digital education business that will be continuing to provide accredited certifications for trainers, coaches, therapists and those shifting other professional careers (like law or finance) into coaching, to align with something they are more passionate about. This program will be called TWIST University, and it launches at the end of this month! It’s going to be amazing, and it will even help trainers differentiate via specialization into sport performance, functional training, sports medicine, and more.
Also this year, he’s going to be launching his Comeback B2C program which is heavily geared towards helping people with the mindset to persevere, overcome, heal, restore, and comeback to being their best selves ever.
He’s got a lot on his plate, a lot to give, and a lot of work ahead of him, and we all hope that you join him on his journey!
