S9: Episode 10 - Life Coach Peggy Messer: Your intentions create your reality

Updated: Apr 3, 2023

This week's episode features an interview with Peggy Messer, also known as Margaret, a retired teacher who is about to embark on a new calling at the age of 73! A graduate of the University of Buffalo in 1972 with a BA in Psychology and a Masters in Education from Elmira College in 1990, she continued her love of learning by becoming an educator. She retired in 2015 after teaching for 26 years in elementary education as well as at the college level. Now, she is focused on her purpose of serving others as a life coach and motivational speaker. Her desire to inspire others leads her to feel most powerfully positioned to serve the person she once was.

Peggy started her journey in 2013 when she attended an open house. Her intention was just to know what was going on and not to join any fitness programs at all. But when she heard about somebody's fitness journey, she signed right up. She signed up for just 3 months but ended up becoming a lifetime member. She lost 50 pounds and said that it was the last 2 years that she lost that remarkable weight.

Before, Peggy's reason for losing weight was when she attended an event like a wedding. But now, she wants to stay as healthy as she can and live 25 more years. She loved the journey fitness, the community, the people, and the feeling like she's teaching again.

Peggy lost her loved ones, including her mother, sister, brother, and father. She now views death differently. As a Christian, she is bold in her faith and looks forward to the future with hope. She's not afraid of dying anymore because she feels that she is living what she should be living here on earth. When it's time for her to go, it's totally fine with her.

One day in the gym, she just decided to become a life coach. She went home and didn't even know what to do. She looked up certifications and all the stuff to become a life coach. She realized that she already had a certificate of being a life coach, and she also knew what to teach people what they need to know. As a teacher, she would always tell her students to go back and fix something because this might be their best foot, and they can always do their best, better.

Peggy's goal, desire, and intention are to live a life with intentions. Setting intentions empowers you to decide what you want and how you want to experience life.

The following important points were discussed:

  • Become the hero of your own story.

  • Our experiences will bring us to our purpose.

  • You can always do your best, better.

  • Have a God-sized dream.
