S8: Episode 7 - Be Happy with Monique Rhodes

On Overcomer’s Podcast we have the chance to talk about happiness and how we can achieve it not based on external things. The amazing Monique Rhodes shared to us some practical steps and advice on how to live a happier life.

Monique Rhodes grew up in New Zealand. She did not have the easiest childhood. At the age of 19, she hit a crisis point, dealing with emotions that’s out of control. She felt a lot of stress, anxiety and depression most of the time. She then ended up in a hospital trying to take her own life. In the hospital bed she asked herself why she struggled so hard and everybody else seemed to be okay.

It has been a big impact to her that’s why she has been studying and practicing mindfulness meditation for over 18 years. Monique is someone who has lived her extraordinary life to the full and is in all ways an expert in how to break down personal limits and live a life full of possibility.

Point:

  • Consistent happiness shouldn’t depend on our external circumstances, it depends on what’s happening in our minds.

  • Learn to work in our minds, shift and change what’s happening in our minds.

  • We are creatures of habit. We go towards what feels good and move away from things that don’t feel good.

  • Meditation is one of the powerful skills you can learn.
