S5: Episode 3 - Jeff Bristol | Energy and Work Ethic

Hey, quick note, I just wanted to let you know what’s been going on. If you’ve been listening to the Overcomer’s Podcast for awhile, you’ll know we typically get content out on Wednesday, but things didn’t go as planned last week. We had a few different technical difficulties, but now we have everything working properly. The podcast will be out on Thursdays by 6pm from here on out, we’re going to be up on Spotify, as well, so check us out there. I also want to let you know that we always appreciate the viewership. It means a lot to all of us here! Thank you, and I hope you enjoy the show!

Jeff Bristol is a man that has truly had to Overcome quite a bit. He had a relatively normal life as a kid. He had a decent family, went to a good school, was an athlete, and he finished college while wrestling in a Division 1 school. In his 20’s, though, he started using drugs regularly, and became a full-blown drug addict.

Jeff talks about how he had some serious lows. He had several overdoses where he almost died. He even tells us about a time when he overdosed, was saved, and then went right back to the same place he was and started using again that night. We don’t always think straight when we’re in our addiction, but it never makes it easier to hear. He quit and relapsed several times, as well, and he tells us about how badly he felt for his family who were being hurt right alongside him every time something like this happened.

He eventually got a job at Fitness Quest 10, a gym owned by well-known coach and trainer Todd Durkin, He actually worked the front desk there for 2 years, and eventually went on to be a trainer there for 2 years, as well. During his first years there, he actually relapsed for the last time. He had been doing well, his family was hopeful for his future, he even had a beautiful woman he had met and fallen in love with. After this relapse he went to rehab, with the full support of his loved ones and co-workers, and when he came back, he decided that was truly going to be the last time.

He came out, put in his work, and eventually Todd Durkin noticed how much Fitness Quest 10, and fitness meant to Jeff. He eventually offered him the opportunity to be a co-owner, and Jeff jumped on it. From here on out, you can imagine that there was nowhere to go but up for Jeff. He’s been sober and thriving in his new position for almost a decade, and he hopes that there are many more to come.

In our podcast you’ll hear about his thoughts on addiction, overcoming, life, and so much more. Definitely check out this podcast, Jeff is a man that has been in many different levels of success and failure in his life, and he has a lot of wisdom to impart because of it.

Thank you so much, Mr. Bristol, the interview was amazing, and we’re honored to have been a part of your journey, as you are for so many others. We can’t wait to talk to you again.
