As a Journey TEAM, we love to read books that help us get better as a company and it has been over 5 years since we read the book "Zombie Loyalists" by Peter Shankman. This book is about providing service so good that your customers go out and infect other people with their passion for your business just like zombies become zombies and go out and create other zombies. The book even uses the acronym BRAINS to remind us of our job to Bring Random Amazement Into Normal Situations.
We think so highly of this book that we have created employee awards named after it to recognize TEAM members who create Zombie Loyalists. It was a true honor to have someone on the show who has impacted our business so much.
Peter Shankman is an entrepreneur, a best-selling author, and a keynote speaker. He’s an expert on marketing, brand building, social media, and most importantly customer service. Peter started his career at America Online. This was back when AOL was the internet. During his stay there, he was able to help found AOL Newsroom. He then started a PR firm, The Geek Factory. He then went on to found a service for journalists called Help a Reporter Out (HARO), which is still going strong today. Even with all of his struggles and achievements he still finds time to be an ironman triathlete, a skydiver, and (most importantly) a father. Peter's life demonstrates that as long as you put your mind to it, there’s nothing that can hold you back from reaching your goals.
